Many chronic conditions including pain and other symptoms can be improved using PRT including:
Back or Sciatic pain* (including cases where there is a structural abnormality such as a bulging disc, herniation or disc degeneration)
Chronic Arm or Leg Pain*
Fibromyalgia
Headache or Migraine
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
Interstitial Cystitis
Pelvic Pain
Foot Pain
Chronic Tendonitis
Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
Irritable Bowel/Bladder Syndrome
Vertigo and Dizziness
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Long Covid
Anxiety and Depression
*As long as the MRIs and X-rays do not show infection, a tumor, inflammatory condition, or fracture, and if the neurological examination is normal to rule out nerve damage, then: the presence of degenerative discs, spurs, facet problems, and bulging discs should not be interpreted to be causing pain (cited by Howard Schubiner, MD)

To determine if PRT/a mind-body approach to healing your pain might be helpful for you, start by asking yourself the following questions: Answering yes to even just one of these questions suggests that PRT will help you:
Did your pain originate during a stressful time?
Did the pain originate without an injury?
Are your symptoms inconsistent? (ie the pain comes and goes depending on the time of day, the weather, lights, your stress levels, or other variables)
Do you have multiple symptoms? (ie pain and IBS, tinnitus, or pain in multiple locations)
Do the symptoms change or move at times?
Are the symptoms triggered by stress? (including emotional stress or other stressor such as lack of sleep, etc)
Do your pain triggers have nothing to do with the body? (ie weather, sounds, lights, foods bring on the symptoms)
Have you seen doctors but lack a physical diagnosis? (unexplained pain)
Did you experience childhood adversity? (even minor adversities like lack of connection or fear-inducing events can impact our nervous system long term)
Do you have any of the following personality traits: self criticism, pressure, worrying, perfectionism, conscientiousness, people-pleasing?

If you haven’t yet seen your doctor to rule out infection, cancer, or other causes for your pain, you should first see your doctor. If no physical cause for the pain can be identified, then you are safe to proceed with PRT, and PRT will most likely help you. If you have structural abnormalities such as bulging discs, disc herniations or degeneration, you may still benefit from PRT. These abnormalities are more like wrinkles or gray hair– we all get them as we age and studies have shown that many people who are not in pain have disc abnormalities such as herniations, degeneration, or bulging discs. So these structural abnormalities do not always mean pain. Many people with such abnormalities still find that PRT and a mind-body approach reduces their chronic pain.
If you’ve had a surgery or a severe injury in the past 3-6 months, it is best to wait for healing to occur. If you are still in pain after 6 months (or longer than the time expected for healing to occur as determined by your doctor), then PRT may help you.
This treatment method requires around 20-30 minutes to be spent on the activities provided most days. If you do not have time to practice these guided activities, you are less likely to see results.
This treatment may require exploration of emotions, personality traits, and inner dialogues. If you are not comfortable with discussing emotions or with doing some inner work, you are less likely to see results.

Yes, pain reprocessing therapy and related approaches have demonstrated success in alleviating pain even in individuals with structural abnormalities. It's noteworthy that structural changes, like bulging discs, disc degeneration, or disc herniation, are common occurrences with aging. Importantly, many individuals without chronic pain exhibit such abnormalities. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us here. We welcome the opportunity to discuss and understand your unique circumstances.

Unfortunately, coaching is not covered by insurance. However, coaching is eligible for reimbursement with flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA) and health reimbursement accounts (HRA). For this to happen, you will need a letter of medical necessity from your doctor or health care professional. We are happy to provide you with a document you can show your healthcare professional that describes our evidence-based services.
